This is a beautiful sculpture of a swan crafted from a rich cream-grey onyx.

Mounted on a black rotating plinth, which allows the detail of the bird to be fully appreciated.

The sculptor was Ralph Hurst (1918 - 2003). Hurst worked and studied across the United States, especially Florida and in Italy. Most of his work is stone - alabaster, onyx and marble, with a few works crafted from wood.
